About me – technical editor

Hilary Cadman, Editor, Proof Reader and Trainer.I am a highly experienced technical editor and trainer, with a PhD in biochemistry and a Masters in science communication. Over the past 35 years I have worked internationally as a scientist, university lecturer and technical editor (both in-house and freelance). I have developed a range of training courses, and have recently provided training to groups of editors in four states in Australia.

My qualifications include accreditation as a technical editor with the Australian Institute of Professional Editors, the World Health Organization and the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS and certification by the Board of Editors in the Life Sciences (BELS) in the United States.
I keep my skills up-to-date through:

I attempt to reduce my environmental footprint by reducing, reusing and recycling; for example, I turn off computers and other equipment when not in use, and all my food waste goes either to the chickens, the worm farm or the compost heap. I also support various organisations financially or by offering free editing services (e.g. to AuthorAid).
