About me – technical editor
I am a highly experienced technical editor and trainer, with a PhD in biochemistry and a Masters in science communication. Over the past 35 years I have worked internationally as a scientist, university lecturer and technical editor (both in-house and freelance). I have developed a range of training courses, and have recently provided training to groups of editors in four states in Australia.
Qualifications
My qualifications include accreditation as a technical editor with the Australian Institute of Professional Editors, the World Health Organization and the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS and certification by the Board of Editors in the Life Sciences (BELS) in the United States.
I keep my skills up-to-date through:
- membership of professional organisations:
- following online discussions of editing issues (e.g. through the CIEP forums) and membership of relevant groups in LinkedIn
- attending face-to-face and online meetings and workshops run by IPEd, CIEP and other relevant organisations.
